Barometers' have risen from Cook Strait southwards, yesterday's depression having moved away eastwards. Consequently, since last night winds have become, southerly over most of tho South Island and about Cook Strait, but thence northwards westerlies were still prevailing this morning. The wind force, however, is now less strong than it has been during the past few days. Further heavy rain fell yesterday, and last night on the west coast aud far south of the South Island. Since last night there have been some light falls also on the east coast as far north as Cook Strait, while cloudiness has increased almost generally.
