MAORI CONCERT
To-morrow evening the stage of the Town Hall will bo turned into a Maori pa, in this interesting, stago environment much of the old-timo life of the Maoris will be seen. The entertainment will include illustrations of household life, welcomes and farewells to guests, dances, etc., and will conclude with a varied concert programme. The curtain will rise slowly,, the dimed lights gradually brightening to give effect, then will be seen the marae, or courtyard, and subsequently the entrance to, and interior of, a Maori house, in which the Maori people are engaged in flax mat-weaving, carving, etc. The method of tattooing will bo illustrated. Tho concert is being given for tho bonefit of tho lepers on Makogai Island. Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe will-receive a Maori welcome on entering the hall. Tho Et. Hon. J. G-. C'oates will preside. Mr. Coates was Prime Minister during the period that tho late Sir Maui Fomare initiated and carried out, in co-operation with the Government of Fiji, the scheme for the segregation of the lepers on Makogai Island, which has proved such a remarkable success.
