SPRING'S WELCOME
Pairiel yawned and opened her eyes. **Why, it isn't a bit cold," she thought. *'Surely Jack Frost has not forgotten us?" Suddenly there came a tap, tap, tan on.'the window-pane, and, looking out, JTairiel saw 'a little fairy dressed in the palest of! green.- -"Hullo," said the fairy. "Please open the window and let me in." Fairiel did so, and the little fairy stepped daintily into the 100 m. "My name is Spring, and I have come1 from my far-away palace to see I you," fiho said. "AThy," said IViriel, "1 wasn't ex-] petting you so soon. I did not know, ifcat Jac-k Frost had finished his work."j s '_" Jack has gone back to his icy palace "in tfie'l'ar Kortb, and will not be bJftlk-until'next year," replied Spring. "My Eing mil be glad to hear that," said Fairiel. "An) That is what I have come to gee you about," said Spring. "I would lite you to let; eVeryone know that 1 am bere for good," she said. "So, Fairiel, Would yon please Lave a page for mo IB tho Fairy King?" v "Why, of course: I will see about it to-day,*-' said Fairiel. That night she called the.Fairy.King together. They sat rouud the room in little group_s; Then Fairiel began: 'This morning, Spring visited me and asked me to have . a page for her in tho Fairy Ring. So I thought I would gather you all here together, and tell you what happened." After a long conversation they departed, and nest wock, when they saw tbe Fairy Ring it was headed "Spring Page." - Spring was very much encouraged after this, and set to work with a will. Soon 'Cm bulbs began to push their heads far above the ground, and graceful narcissi, daffodils, and ionrjuila wore waving their stately heads in the breeze, and the birds all seemed to be singing "Spring is-llere." tf'BLUE MOON" (12).
