The British cruiser Conquest, which broke-adrift'in the North Sea with sis men on board while being towed north for breaking up, was picked up and taken to the Humber last night by tho Hull tug Seaman, after drifting for several hours. , ,

No anxioty was felt for the safety of the men aboard the cruiser while the'vessel was adrift, but the _ vessel was a potontial danger to shipping, particularly owing to the,exceptionally high seas that were running. ' Several small craft wero severely buffeted during the storm, coastal shipping on the east coast of Scotland was held up, and several of the remaining autumn exercises of the Fleet oft" Moray Firth were abandoned.

The crew of. the Danish motorschooner Doris, failing to make harbour at HaTtlepool, was in peril of being driven upon the Lbugsear rocks, and a lifeboat, after three unsuccessful attempts, got alongside and took off the crew. The Doris later dragged her anchors and drifted ashoro.
