FIRST ANNUAL MEETING }
Tlic first annual meeting of tlie Wellington Aero Club x was held last evening, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop presiding over v. large attendance of members.
In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, particulars of which have been published, Mr. Hislop referred to the general development of aviation in ,N row Zealand, and in Wellington during the past twelve months. To-day, the Auckland Club had doubled its membership, and almost doubled tho number of 'planes. Hawkcs Bay, Wairaiapa, and tho Western, Cluba were established, and Mavlborough, Canterbury, Otago, ■ tunl Southland were all "going strong." That showed remarkable development. Wellington had done extraordinarily well, with 200 members, all, of whom were keen and interested. The 3 atmosphere surrounding aviation was hopeful, and he thought that the Wellington Club's development would be greater in the future. Regarding finances, he said the'club was not quite holding its own on its own activities, but their position would be improved if the membership were increased by a hundred. At present, the flying activities at Rongotai were not quite paying their wa;'. He expressed thanks to the committee for past work, and paid a tribute to the work of the pilot-instructor, Flight-Lieutenant G. L. Stedman.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:—Patron, the Mayor (Mi1. G. A. Troup); president. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop; committee, Messrs. J. E. L. Baldwin, G. D. Goodwin, H. Lloyd, A. W. Nisbet, G. G. Wallace, C. Weinstein; auditor, Mr. T. Forsyth. ' -
