UPPER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the Upper Mutt Borough Council was held last night. The Mayor (Mr. P. Robertson) I presided, and there were also present Councillors E. W. Cottlc, C. L. A. Spearman, A. Howell, W. Grcig, M. 1.1. Hood, G. 11. Guthrie, J. O. Duff, and J. BlewThe Minister of Health and the Hutt County Council wrote approving of the council's taking over of the control of the Akatarawa Cemetery, the Hutt Countsstipulating that there should be no difference in the charges to Hutt County residents. The Mayor stated that there was no intention of differentiating in the charges. The Mayor and Councillors Greig and Cottle were appointed a Cemetery Keserve Committee. Councillor Hood was appointed to the Public Services Committee in place of Councillor Howell, who recently resigned from the committee. It was decided to raise a loan ot ioOU over the Kast Ward for the relief of unemployment. The Town Clerk reported that there were 47 on the list of unemployed. Ail estimate for £41 for the reticulation of* Gard street was received from the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board. It was decided to take, no action in the matter. The sanitary inspector reported that 4 oases of scarlet fever, 2 of diphtheria, and ] of pneumonia had been dealt with during the fortnight ended 27th September.
