To-niorrow Ufo loan proposals will ho placed before the Nelson ratepayers.
One is for £28,000 for extending the ■gas inanufaftturing'plant and the other for £1700 for a fire engine with ladder (Equipment. ■■:■?:';■,*•-.'■•■ . : ■■■'■ /::.■■ :" ' | For the fpurthrtime. the Nelson Girl Guides have won the Jellieoe Shield ..(presented by Viscountess Jellieoe for 'annual competition between guide companies -in New • Zealand in first-aid, tome : nursing,; and child nursing. The shield was first presented in 1925, and during the six years Nelson has been iirst on f^our. occasions, and second on .the two others. The written\ paper was set" by Dominion headquarters, and the Nelson team' was ' examined orally and in practical work by Dr. H. B. A. "Washbonrn. This year's toam was: Patricia Maunsell,• Phillita- 'VVashbourn, Agnes Marr, Honor Boxerj emergency, Tessa Hill. The province also holds the.
