WHAT SHE WEARS
THE WELL-DRESSED GIRL
She wears a tailor-made cut on classic lines, with a soft silk shirt or jumper and a small hat, for lunch in town or country. A well-cut tailor-made is sufficiently aristocratic to feel at home anywhere.
• She dresses on tailored lines only in her office, and wears a coat, however light, when walking in the streets of a big city. She wears a lace frock for any evening affair, which she is not quite sure will be large or small. It always looks correct.
She buys one good hat instead of two cheap ones. Cheap hats lose their shape so quickly. She saves on sweets, "movies," and cigarettes so that she can buy nicer gloves and stockings. Either of these accessories when they are "cheap and nasty 1' are- such "give-aways." Her suit skirt is plain, well brushed, and pressed, and is never worn without its coat.
The same with walking shoes. These are of serviceable leather or kid, and fit trimly, but are not worn indoors.
She avoids fussiness of design, unnecessary additions, and useless accessories.
She keeps at least one evening a week for a complete overhauling of her wardrobe, so that buttons remain on and collars and cuffs are always spruce and dainty, ana to hand when she wants to "ring the changes."
Another factor, and a very important one, is the way she holds herself—her carriage actually improves the look of her clothes. This, and well-kept hair, make a world of difference to the personal appearance.
