"DONE ALL WE CAN"
SIR VICTOR WILSON'S STATEMENT
Interviewed this morning with regard to the film difficulty, Sir Victor Wilson, president of Kirn Distributors Association, said he liad last night received a letter from the Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. E. A. Bansom) stating that the Government were not prepared to reopen an investigation or to have an inquiry into the position. "This is very much to bo regretted," said Sir Victor, "as I feel that wo have done everything possible to assist all concerned in the present eircustances. Some way may have been found out of the impasse that the whole industry is now placed in in New Zealand. I hope to make a very full and complete statement of the whole case within the next day or so, as I believe that not only the trade but the public are entitled to know the whole of the circumstances of the prescn lock-out in the film iu-dusfc-y. Tho Jovernment no doubt is prepared to a -cept its responsibility. "In the Pro* lately uhcre have been constant statements with regard to the purchase by the Pox Kirn Corporation of theatre interests in New Zealand. I have this morning received from Sydney a cable message from Mr. Munro, acting-managing director, stating: 'We are not interested. Please publish denial." Sir Victor said that the present stand tekeanp by the Government with
regard to this industry would most assuredly discourage the investment of outside capital in theatres or any other form of entertainment, as it could be quite understood that those concerned had been kept fully posted by him as to the preaeat position.
