VISIT OF THE DUNEDIN
MARCH THROUGH THE TOWN

NELSON, 17th September. Last evening a rowing race over a mile course took place between crews representing H.M.S. Dunedin and the Iron Duke Sea Scouts. The Navy lads, who were under 21 years o£ age, pulled a long, steady stroke, and won by several lengths. The crews were;-H.M.S. Dunedm: K. Smith (stroke). W. 8-.^ J. Jeffcote, W. Hawks, and P. O. walfc-r (cox). Sea Scouts: E. Berry I*****),"; Naylor, P. Morrison, R. lancaid, R. Bimpj son, and G. Norriss (cox). The pilot launch towed the two crews down tne harbour to the starting post.- At tne commencement, the Navy broke an oai. giving the Scouts a slight **™**&T™ the spare oar was shipped. The lace ie mained even well over the first f™ tcJ°l a mile, and then H.M.S. Dunedm s ciew slowly, but surely drew away from their opponents,; finishing from three to tour lengths in the lead. The wharf and ships were lined with spectators, showing the keen interest taken in . the event. Neither of the crews-were m training, and their weights were fairly even. It is understood that the concert given by the concert party of H.M.S. DuuoUa in the Majestic ; Theatre on Monday evening-* id of -the -Hospital «4?9 , f™g will result in "a-profit" of between £90 and £100. The warship leaves the outer anchorage for Wellington at about 7 o'clock to-morrow. A searchlight display will be given. In the morning 100 ot tfie ship's crew will march through the city streets, headed by. the band The salute will be taken at the Church Steps by 'Commodore Blake. .
