CARRIED BY 'PLANE

PERSIAN ART TREASURES

EXHIBITION IN LONDON

Iritish Official Wireless,

BUGBY, 15th September.

In preparation for an exhibition of Persian art treasures to be opened at Burlington House, London, nest January, thirty cases of art treasures were List week dispatched by the Persian Government in four aeroplanes from Teheran, and will be brought to London in a British vessel.

Many of the treasures are beyond price, and are of great beauty and historic interest. They include a circular silk carpet from the Golden Mosque at Khum, of fabulous value, many other carpets centuries old of exquisite workmanship and design, numerous examples of jewel encrusted armour and clothing and precious ornaments, including silver vessels possessed by Haroun AlBashid, the "Arabian Knights" Caliph.

A collection of Persian manuscripts, including several of the Koran, and specimens of porcelain and brocade, also being sent, are hardly less valuable and interesting.
