SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

The northern eyclono crossed tho northern districts during last night, and at 9 a.m. today its centre was located eaat of "the Auckland Peninsula. Fresh to strong "south-east to south winds have prevailed, reaching gale force at places, more especially from Cools Strait northwards. Rain has fallon over the greater part of the North Island with some heavy downpours from Hawkes Bay northwards.. There has, howover, been very little about Cook Strait, aud practically none has been reported in the. South Island, except In parts of the northern and southern extremities. Temperatures have, been cold everywhere.
