LAST NIGHT'S FINALS

The, exeellont entertainment being provided, at sessions of the Wellington Competitions Society's annual festival at present in progress drew a good body of the public to the Town Hall last night. The spirit of friendly rivalry in each number gives, an added zest to the enjoyment of what are remarkably good items, and the audiences each night are. not slow to show their appreciation of outstandnig merit. The following are further results of yesterday's events:—

Mr. Ernest Jenncr, the judgo, very highly commended Miss Mavis Crawford (Lyall Bay), who, he said, played the nocturne best of all. The competitors had played a test piece and also one of their own selection, and Mr. Jenner said that Mr. Hood's playing of a Debussy piece had placed him ahead, but he should watch his • Miss Hlghet'a tone in tho nocturne was too- angular.
