The annual report of the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League states that jfrom all points of view the 1929-30 season may be looked upon as one of the most successful experienced by the league since ita inception. The continned interest was very gratifying. Five Dew clubs were affiliated and twentyeight ' teams took part in the competitions, which again were played in three grades. The standard of play was very high, a, fine sporting spirit prevailed, and interest was maintained right to the close of the championships. The Customs and Agents Club, which won the A grade championship, showed consistently good all-round play, and splendid form was maintained by Sargood, Son, and Ewen's Club, which won tho B grade championship. State Fire Insurance put up a praiseworthy performance in winning the C grade championship, this being their 'second season .with ths league.
A trophy donated by Mr. R. L. Thompson, a life member, an<2 the founder of the league, for the player Jregistering the highest individual score of tho season, was won by Donovan, ,bf James Smith's Club, .with a score of 152. Mr. P. Laurenson's trophy tot the best club secretary was won by Mr. B. F. Whitmore, of Niven's Club.
•Special matches were played by the league, among them being the annual ioateh with the Wollington junior representatives. ;. The financial statement shows the league to be in a satisfactory positon, their being a credit balance of £113 4s 7a. .
