TROTTING HANDICAPPER

AUCKLAND, This Day.
The Otahuhu Trotting Club having merged with the Auckland _ Trotting Club, considerable interest is centred in the appointment of a handicappeT for the season. - ■
Among local owners and trainers the opinion was freely held that there should be one handicapper for the South Island and one for the ITorth Island, and a petition setting this out was presented on behalf of the trainers and owners at a meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club yesterday afternoon. ■'■-■,■■
Mr. G. Paul has been handicapper for the Auckland Clnb and Mr. d Goosman for the Otahuhu Club, and both were seeking the position. The voting of the committee was equal, and on the casting vote of the chairmaii (Mr. J. Rowe) Mr. Paul was reappointedi. but the appointment was made from meeting to meeting. ■
