DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR
A correspondent ("A Disgusted Listener") writes to "The Post":—"Can you inform me whether it is possible to make a complaint to the police for the following happening? A few nights ago, whilst waiting for the Northland tram, several ladies were very upset over the behaviour of a party of youths (by no stretch of imagination could one dignify .them by the name of young men) in the telephone box opposite the tram stop at Northland. One of these hooligans had entered the box for the purpose of obtainiug sufficient light to read, and was retailing in a loud voice to the rest of the party outside the box certain verses of a most obscene character —quite sufficiently loud to reach the ladies iv question. If this sort of thing is permitetd in a public highway, then for the safety of the young girls of the neighbourhood it is high time that the fathers in the vicinity took some action (with a horsewhip) for the protection of their young girls and children. I had no idea that in a young country like this such obscenities would be possible amongst its youth."
