WITH ONE VOICE
After the rush and scramble with domestic legislation it was gratifying that representatives of all political parlies could unite, as they did on Saturday night, in tendering to the Prime Minister their best wishes for his success at the Imperial Conference. Mr. Forbes leaves New Zealand as the representative of all New Zealand, and he will speak for the Dominion as a whole. He himself and the leaders of the other parties emphasised this unity of the country in Imperial affairs. It was the keynote of the statement with which he opened the Parliamentary debate on the Conference agenda. Hitherto we have been remarkably fortunate in the fact that our Empire policy has been kept mainly, though perhaps not wholly, above the disruptive influences of party politics. A tradition of continuity has been established, not to hinder progress, but to conserve the essential elements of Empire stability. The maintenance of that tradition is, we are sure, safe in the hands of Mr. Forbes.
