SPILLANE CUP.
Teams representing the Hamilton, and Wellington Marist Rugby football clubs played a match for the Spillane Cup at Newtown Park on Saturday, the local side winning by a margin of eight points. Scoring was high, and in the first spell Wellington put on twenty-one points while the visitors failed to score. In the second spell, however, Hamilton also scored twenty-one points, Wellington adding eight. Eville, Broderick, and Robins each scored two tries, and MTJonald one for Wellington, Keegan converting four. Mills, Monteith, and Cassidy scored tires for Hamilton, Clarkin converting one as well as kicking two penalties and potting a goal. The final score was: Wellington 29, Hamilton 21.
Gordon and Gotch defeated Wellington Hospital by six points to nil. Evans scored a try, and O'Leary kicked a penalty goal.
