SECONDARY SCHOOLS' TOURNAMENT
. WELLINGTON IX FINAL
(By. Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
Wellington College did not appear to be fully extended to beat Wanganui by 13 points to 9 in the annual inter-collegiate tourney which opened her on Saturday.
Nelson and Christ's drew, after a fine exposition, each side scoring two' tries, none of which were converted.
Wellington and Nelson will piny off for the championship and Wavrgamri and Christ's for the wooden spoon.
The Wellington-Wanganui game was not of the high standard reached in the Christ's College-Nelson game, and it was less exciting. The Wanganui forwards were having the best of the scrums, but in the loose Wellington were too many for them. At'half-time the score was Wellington College 10, Wanganui 3, two converted tries to a penalty goal. The tries were scored by W. Bird and J. M. Watt, and were both converted by Carlson. The Wanganui penalty was a good kick by Bunny from a difficult angle. The second spell saw Wanganui attack at the jump, and a good passing rush ended in Kemp getting across. The try was not converted. Later Coleman galloped over, but the kick again was a failure. Wellington was having the better of the game, but it was not till late in the spell that their efforts were rewarded, the forwards going down the field in a bunch and A. C. M'Kenzie scoring. The try was not converted. In the Nelson v. Christ's College match, which ended 6 all, the scorers were: —For CHirist's, Monteith and. Rolleaton; for Nel-" son Col lego, Newman and Buttress.
