DOWN SIXPENCE PER POUND
The Australian 1930.31 wool sales open in I'crth on 9th September. The season just closed was remarkable for a drop in the Australian average price for greasy wool sold of over Cd per pound as compared with last season's rates. The National Council of Wool-selling Brokers reports as follows:— Wool sold Ay. price Season bales per lb. WS--20 ... 2,015.070 10.44 d 1929-30 2,433,326 10.29 d Receipts of wool in 1925-3) were 2,600,----486 bales, compared with 2,583,083 bales for the season just closed. The wool shipped this season was 41,439 bales, and in store (as at 30th June) there were 108,318 bales. . The total value of all wool—greasy, scoured, and tops—for the twelve months ended 30th June, 1929, was £61,615,000. For the twelve months ended 30th Juno last it amounted to £36,595,000, the reduction being approximately £25,000,000.
