TUNNEY NOT A SOCIAL LION

Not only is Gene Tuuncy out of the social register, but the name of Polly Lauder, his wife, has been dropped since she married the fornier heavyweight boxing champion, ifc was disclosed in an article in tho "American Magazine." Tnnney's name- never was included in the register itself, it was explained, in correction of a, popular belief. His name was merely included in a supplement listing the names of social registerites who married and, of course, the persons they married. That was Tuuney's nearest approach to tho social distinction of the register, and now, it appears, even his wife has been dropped. The Tunneys liavG illustrjous company, however. It was recalled that the Secret' Committee charged with

the selection of names for tho book dropped the name of Dorothy Benjamin after she married Enrico Carusor Others who have not achieved the distinction of the book include RoarAdmiral Richard E. Byrd, Henry .ford, and Edscl Ford. On the other hand, two previously unlisted young men not only found their wives' names retained in the register, but their own added after marriage. They are Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh and Antonio Moreno. Lindbergh is listed since his marriage to Anne Morrow and Moreno achieved a place when he married Mrs. J. M. Danziger. Alfred Smith is out of tho register, but President Hoover and Calvin CooliUge axe in. Thomas A Edison is in, but Charles M. Schwab is out.
