RELIGIOUS SERVICES. J 0.0. F. HALL, 19, LOWER TORY-ST. A FREE PUBLIC ADDRESS will be delivered (God willing) in the above Hall on SUNDAY, at 7 p.m. Subject: ' "THE ORTHODOX DEVIL —A MYTH." 1 CAN YOU BELIEVE that the Devil is a personal supernatural agent of evil, (1) WHEN Paul said of Christ, "That through death he might destroy him THAT HAD THE POWER OF DEATH, THAT IS THE DEVIL" (Heb. 2:14), a parallel passage being, "He (Christ) PUT AWAY SIN by the sacrifice of Himself." (Heb. 9:26.) Thus the Devil is but a Scriptural personification of sin in the flesh. (2) WHEN the Greek word I'Diabolos" (35 times rendered "Devil" in the i New Testament) means a "false accuser," "slanderer," etc., and is acl tually so rendered in 1 Tim. 3:11, 2 Tim. 3:3, Titus 2:3. and applied to ; "MEN" and "WOMEN." i (3) WHEN Jesus said of Judas, "Have i not I chosen you twelve, and one of ; YOU is a DEVIL?" (John 6:70.) [ (4) WHEN He also said to Peter, "Get THEE behind Me SATAN." (Matt. 16:23.) (5) AND WHEN, in referring to the Roman State, Jesus arid, "THE i DEVIL shall cast some of you into prison." (Rev. 2:10.) . Questions invited. No collection. THIS AND EVERY SUNDAY AT 7 P.M. THE PENTECOSTAL MISSION OF NEW ZEALAND, 29, Vivian street. 1 "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. ..."
