Levin and Co., Ltd., have received . the . following cable from their London agents, dated 22nd August, relative to North Island meat:—Down lambs, none offering; crossbred lambs, 8 7-8 d; second quality lambs, 7%d; wethers, under 481b 6d, 48-561 bsd, 56-641b: 4%d,----64-721b 4 5-8 d; ewes, under 481b 3%d, 48-561b 3 3-Bd, 56-6411) 3 l-Bd, 61-721 V 3 l-8d; New Zealand prime ox beef, 160-220 lb, iVzd. A.s compared with last week's quotations: Best North. Island lamb, 28----361b, l-8d per lb lower; others unchanged. North Island ewes, with the exception of sfi-641b, l-8d per lb higher; others unchanged. Market quiet. The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this week:—"The demand for wether mutton is steady, with a better outlook. The market for ewes is quiet and unchanged. The .demand for lamb still continues, but is not quite so brisk, and there is a weaker tendency. There is a fair demand for beef. Trade is affected by the holidays."
