VETERAN PASSES

SYDNEY, 20th August. Charles Bannerman, a member of the first Australian cricket eleven to visit England in 1878, under the captaincy of Dave Gregory, collapsed and died in the street at Moore Park today. He was 65 years of age. He was a native of Kent, England. There now are only two survivors of the first overseas eleven, T. Garrett and J. Blaekham.
