The Australians completed their first innings in the fourth day of the final Test match at the Oval for 695 runs. Bradman made 232. England opened their second innings at halfpast five with Hobbs and SutclifTe. Hobbs was dismissed for 9. Bad light slopped play before the official closing, England's score being 24 for 1 wicket.
