ABOUT HAZE
WILL HE JUMP?
A great judge o£ a thoroughbred, and a wonderful trainer, R. J. Mason rarely wasted time with a horse that did not come to profit early, but an exception was Haze. This son of Demosthenes showed much promise from the beginning of his career as a racehorse, but, strange to. relate, he did not fulfil it. His career started as far back as 1923, and, although Haze ran second in the Great Autumn Handicap and Hawkes Bay Cup of 1924. when only a three-year-old, he.was still running in hack events last season. Now a ten-year-old, Haze is being tried at hurdling, but as his tuition in tbe art of jumping is somewhat belated, Haze may continue _to uphold his reputation ii being an "if-fer."
