GAOL FOR THEFT

AValking into a shop in Cuba street on Tuesday, AVilliam Henry Thomas, aged 43, put a tube of vanishing cream valued at 2s 3d in his pocket. He was seen by a shop assistant and later detained by the manager. . .

Thomas told Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday that he remembered nothing about the incident, and he asked to be given another chance.

Remarking that the accused had a list of previous convictions, the Magistrate sentenced Thomas to one month's imprisonment.
