INVISIBLE GLASSES
Spectacles may largely disappear as the result of a lemarkable optical device which is being used for- the correction of certain forms of defectivevision. The method of treatment consists of fitting' under the eyelids minutely thin lenses similar in shape to the shell type of artificial eye. The lenses are adjusted to fit directly against the eye. The wearer can remove or replace the leas before a mirror in. a, second or so. The new system i» gaining favour among eye-Syiwialists. A noted actress is playing i%htly on tha London stage with, one eye fitted with one of the invisible substitutes fo^ glasses. The device is said to be par* ticularly valuable, to motorists and sport devotees, because it permits ol a range of accurate vision'at all angle% while the efficacy of spectacles is liny ited to a direct view. According to the "Sunday Express,"' the International Congress of Opthalmology hag investigated and approved the claims made for the discovery. The life of one of the new lenses is • from six months, to a year. After that the upper surface in contact with the eyelid may become rough through the «on-> stant friction set up by blinking. '
