BROKEN CONTRACT
WARNING TO BOXERS
THE TROWERN SUSPENSION
(By Telegraph.)
(S|wcial to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, This Day.
The appeal of Keg. Trowern againsst the six months' disqualification imposed by the New Zealand Boxing Association from Ist July was heard by an appeal board, comprising Messrs. H. E. Mackenzie, C. Saunders, and L. Meredith, sitting in Auckland. Trowern's offence was in breaking a contract entered into with the Wellington Boxing Association.
The board disallowed the appeal, but ordered that the term of disqualification be reduced to expire to-day, which mean that Trowern has been suspended for seven weeks instead of six/ months.
The case was the first of its kind calling for a penalty of this nature, and tho board held that seven weeks' suspension was commensurate with the offence. It was a warning to boxers that they must honour their contracts with any association.
