INTERESTING PAGEANT
IJAIUA' CHURCH: HISTORY
The histoiy of Chiiatianity in England is to be made tho subject of a pageant at the annual festival of the Auckland Diocesan Sunday schools, which will take 'place -in the Town Hall this month, states tho "New Zealand Herald." Under the title of "Avalon," the presentation will embrace outstanding incidents in the ecclesiastical history of England from the year 65 A.D. when the first Christian missionaries arrived at Avalon, or Glastonbury, to the bishopric of St. Cuthbert in 685. Eight periods, comprising 20 scenes, 'will make up an ambitious presentation i chiefly of episodes in tho lives of the saints, those depicted being Joseph of Arimathea, Alban, Golumba, Augustine, Aidah, Caedmon, and Cuthbert. There will also be a programme of hymns, to tho accompaniment of one of which all the characters will be seen in procosbion, and grouped upon the stage. An explmatory preliminary address will be delivered.
