Tho position of the teams in tho championship Is as follows:—Hutt No. 1, 12; Karori, 10; Public Service, 10; South, 8; Brooklyn, 7; Aotea, C; Hutt No. 2, 5; P.W.M.C, 4; Harbour Board, 3; Railway, 3.
There was a very marked improvement in form. The 56 competitors aggregated 3796 points, an average of 67.78. Tho highest team score was made by the Hutt team with 481. The best scoring match was between South and P.W.M.C., with a combined score of 95b. South, Aotea, and P.W.M.C. excelled their previous highest scores by 5, 3; and 2 points rePossibles were scored by R. M'Dougall (Railway) his fourth; P. B. Goldfinch (Hutt), his third; F. Kershaw (P.W.M.C), his third; and L. Hare (Hutt). There were no fewer than nineteen 69's. The match results are as follow: —

'and'between Harbour Board und I'ctpno Central N. 2 are not yet to hand. The position of the leading teams in the inter-club championship is as follows: —Hutt, JO; Potone Central No. 1, 10; Aotea, 8; Public Service, S ; Hallway, S; W.W.M.C, S; Brooklyn, U; Hutt Valley ladies, 6; Onslow, 6. The result of the matches between P.W.M.C. and'Hutt and between Onslow and Pctone CenIral Is'o. 1 was a most surprising one, in that the two lending teams were badly defeated. The 50 competitors aggregated 3572 points, an average of 63.78. Brooklyn made the highest team scoro of 480, aud Aotoa versus Eailway the highest combined score of 002. Aotea, Brooklyn, and Petono Central No. 2 excelled their highest previous scores by 6, 6, aud 5 respectively. N.Z.M.R.A. Iv the race against time to ensui-e early publication of the championship results, a slight error occurred in the prize money allotted to Match No. 1. The competitors scoring 89 receive 9s, not 11s as stated, and those scoring 98 2s, not 3s Cd. A slight typographical error occurred in the prize money for the ladies' match. Those scoring 96 received 4s, not 6a as stated. We take this opportunity to thank tho scorers for the prompt manner in which tho results were published; their task in judging nearly seven hundred targets was no light one. Entries for tho Wlteombe and Caldwetl Cup competition close on Saturday, 23rd August. 4.S this is a trophy worth competing for, good entries aro expected. Any club not receiving a copy of *he conditions, may liat» ene on applying to the secretary. The conditions of the competition are,— Teams to consist or 5, and must be members of an affiliated club. Length of range 20 or •25 yards. (Length of range must bo s ibmittqd with entries.) Ten shots, all to count, two shots on each bull, no sighter. Two supervisors must be appointed. The executive have decided on general principles that clubs entering competitions must get-another rifle club l their district to nominate supervisors, names ,d addresses of same, together with name of L- ub who nominates them, to be submitted y tli entries. This competition Is being most keenly contested, ami a very exciting finish is anticipated in both grades. On Wednesday tho A grade team tired a very oTcnly contested match with Hntt No. 2 on tho home range, and finally won by the narrow margin of 3 points. The club's C grade team flred a very enjoyable match at home on Wednesday, when they met and defeated tho Eailway team. Although there was a substantial difference between the two scores, the match was very keenly contested, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. PORT NICHOLSON LADIES' CLUB. These competitions are proving most interesting, and great keenness is being shown during practice. PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB. Tho second quarter of the championship was concluded last week, leaving only six more shoots to bo flred. The handlcapper, Mr. Hendry, has again secured excellent results, although the scratch men, with high averages, managed to beat him. In the men's section, the handicap resulted in a tie between Croxton and Poutawera, while the latter annexed the quarterly gun score cup. This tie will be decided in the near future. In the ladles section, Mrs. Potts secured both gun and handicap scores.
