Mr. Lloyd George, in condemning! the slowness'with which the work of Parliament is done, remarked recently that Magna Charta passed through all its stages in a very few days. By a coincidence, the anniversary of the signature of that instrument occurred on the following day (15th June). The deliberations between King and Barons cannot have lasted more than a week, because the safn-con-rluct to the Barons was granted only on Bth June.
