A RATING ANOMALY

The ruling of the Full Court on Section 69 of the Eating Act, 1925, that a ratepayer is entitled to claim a remission of half rates upon his property if the building upon tho land is unoccupied for six months, was adversely commented upon by the Upper Hutt Borough Council last night. It was decided to ask tho Municipal Association to tako steps to have this anomaly removed by making section 69 inoperative where rating is on unimproved land values.
