THE TUMBLER TEST
NOT A DROP SPILLED MONTREAL TO CARDINGTON j Polled Preu Association—By Electric Telepraph—Copyright. (Received 18th August, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 17th August. The officers of 8100 and expert observers who made the round trip con-j gider that the Canadian flight demonstrated tb« comfort, speed, and cominerejal utility of a Transatlantic airship service. A tumbler full of water placed on the airship's table at Montreal did not spill a drop on the trip to Cardington, though the airship was jtwiee buffeted by storms, and passed through very heavy rain. Large liners were seen tossing and pitching in mountainous seaa below. The airship restained as steady as when moored. The passengers slept all night oblivious of $he great storm at sea below. The Jomeward flight of 3200 miles took 8425 minutes. When tho airship was J)uiiig refuelled after her arrival at Cardington two petrol tanks slipped 'flown from their holders and tore holes fn the underpart of fiho airship's onyolope. The damage is being repaired. When tho 8100 was moored, a tiredJooJdng officer appeared at tho opening 'pi the hatchway, which swung down from the ship, and reduced romance to prose by announcing the readings for the Customs officers.
Lord Thomson delivered n speech of after which Major Scott, who ■was perishing for a smoke, which was impossiblo on board, took a "ready-filled pipe from. his pocket and lit up imjtaediately he reached the ground. A now envelope and a new cover are Tjeing prepared for the airship, which boars numerous letters, also flowers for Buckingham Palace and peaches for tho Prince of Wales.
