PLEASANT PARTIES
" THREE EECENT FUNCTIONS. Mr. ana Mrs. B. M. Nagle have beea host and hostess at two.pleasant parties given at their charming home, "The Grange," Highland Park. One was. in honour of Mias Noeline Markman, a prospective bride, the party being made in tune for the occasion by the provision, of. dainty scorecards adorned with sketones of brido and bridesmaids, wedding-cake, "lucky numbers, "etc: A very pleasant time was enjoyed by many guests, including Mesdames. Arthur Markman, Gilmore Ellis, Bernard Stott, Mansfield, Herd, Pindlay, Dickerson, Wallace, lan Tringiham, Edwards, Blundell, Wrigley, Baillie, Luke, Misses Shirley and. Mily Markman; Noeline Bevan, Nola Cable, Topsy Matthews, M'Oarthy, Talmai Bichardson, Miss M, Fay. The prices were won by Mesdames Edwards, Findlay, and.M'Carthy.
Mr. and. Mrs. Aithur Tyndall were also most pleasantly entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Nagle at a farewell party, when many friends were.given an opportunity of bidding the guests of honour "good-bye" before their departure for America. Progressive bridge1 proved a very popular amusement, and wag followed by. a delicious supper, when speeches were made and many good wishes were extended to the travellers. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs, A. T. Markman, Mr. and Mrs. E. Dickerson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Halligan, Mr. 1 and Mrs. Tartakavor, Mr. and Mrs. 1 Owen Evans, Mr. and Mrs. W. ' Struthers, Mr., and Mrs. W. Findlay, i Mr. and Mrs. H. Toogood, Mr. and Mrs. ■ Elliot Myers, . Mr. and Mrs. Winton j Brown; Mr. and Mrs. Darling, Mr. and I Mrs. Gow, Mi. and Mrg. P. Wrigloy, Mr. and Mrs. 'H. Beauehamp, Mr. and Mrs, G. Baillie, Mrs. H. T. M. Fathers, and Miss Beatrice Malrng. Mrs. A. A. Ballingall and Mrs. A. M'Kay were hostesses on Saturday afternoon at a .farewell party tendered to Miss Hazel SoniervillQ, of Wellington, who is to leave for Sydney, en 'route for Hong Kong, on 26th August. The afternoon, was held in. Mrs. Ballin- ■ gall's residence, Bidwell etreet. The ■ large drawing-room was.prettily decorated with spring flowers, and afterjnoon tea wasjerved in the <liijing-?ooni. IA very pleasant'timo was spent by all, ana two competitions .caused much amusement. Among those present were ■ Mesdames A. A. Somerville, A. Peacock, C. M. Beasley, and Eliott, and Misses Gwen Somerville, El. North, V. , Eliot, G. Samson, 0.. Ballingall, and 0. Gilberd. On. her arrival in Hong Kong Miss SomcrviUo. is- to. marry the Eev.: L. N. Watkins, formerly of Wellington,; who was appointed to s chaplaincy in the cathedral there about a year ago. She will be accompanied as far as Sydney by her parents, Mr. »»d Mrs. A. A. Somerville, and her sister, Miss Gwcn Somerville.
