HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Tho House of Bepresentatives met at 2.30 p.m. to-day. . The question of a breach of privilege was raised by Mr. W. E. Barnard (Labour, Napier) when- lie asked that a statement, reported in the "Napier Daily Telegraph," be read. The statement was taken from a report of the proceedings of a Hospital Board meeting and was headed-"Deliberate Lying," "Not Playing Cricket," and in it strong critipism was made of a statement by Mr. Barnard by a member of the board. ■ The Prime Minister agreed that the statement was a reflection on the. member for Napier and tho House, of Kepresentativos, and he moved that the editor and publisher of the paper and the person responsible for the statement sljould bo asked to make an explanation. . This was agreed to after discussion. The Loader of the Labour Party gave notice to ask the Minister of Mines whether he would this session take steps to regulate the importation. of coal, and that, the working, of .tho.New Zealand mines, woulct.nof'ti.e; eurtail^ai Mr. Holland pointed,.out that thp.,'irv-j^ ers at Millerton.had been w^rKing only, two arid a-half days Viii the'-weeTc '.and great hardships had. beeiv suffered .by their families.' ,'"..'
