WIND STOEM IN SYDNEY
MUCH DAMAGE DONE

SYDNEY, This Day.
A fierce -windstorm, the worst experienced for seven years, struck Sydney last night, and caused widespread damage to property. The suburbs were plunged into darkness, trees were uprooted, houses unroofed, and harbour anchorages dislodged. At the South Head the wind was calculated to have reached a velocity of seventy miles an hour. The gale, howover, lasted less than an hour.
