GOOD FOR THE ASHES

COMMENT IN AUSTRALIA

ENGLISH TEAM WEAKENED

SYDNEY, 13th August.

M. A. Noble, commenting on the English cricket team, said: "I do not know Wyatt, but he will have to bo something out of the box to do justice to the position vacated by his famous predecessor, Chapman. So far, Wyatt has not proved to be a world-beater, while Chapman's exclusion is inexplicable. Parker will be a dangerous bowlor on "a worn or bad wicket, but ho lacks stamina. I cannot see how Larwood can bo excluded."

Sydney Smith, former manager of the Australian team, is of opinion that England has got together a very strong side. "All the same, I think that Australia will return with the Ashes."

11. Carter, former Australian wicketkeeper, says: "Tho English, team is weaker than ever. It is a mistake picking Wyatt, who has had very little experience in big cricket." C. Turner ,■>•! A. J. Hopkins describe the team as excellent along the lines of safety 'first.
