WAFI) LRADERS SOLD UP VOR TAXES
LONDON, 11th August.
The Egyptian Bureau in London reports that tho non-co-operation movemont has led to a remarkable scene at Tanta, where the prominent Wafdists Abdul and Fahmy Boy, the Vico-Presi-dent of the Chamber of Deputies, and Dr. Kamel, rofused to pay taxes.
The Government seized their furniture, -which was offered at auction, but thero were no bids, despite the fact that a large crowd was present. Later a prominent supporter of the Govornn.ent bid seventy shillings and secured the goods unopposed, leaving the Government still two guineas short of tho taxes due.
