USE OF BASIN RESERVE
CYCLING, COMPLICATIONS
Some discussion took place at last evening's meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre on the reported allocation by the Reserves Committee to the Port Nicholson Cycling Club (Inc.) of the Basin Reserve for tho finish of a cycle raco from Palmerston North to Wellington. The chairman. (Mr. A. C. Kitto) said that the centre'had controlled the raco annually since its inception, and had also applied for the' use of tho Basin Reserve either on 4th or 11th October, but hadiTeceived no satisfaction.
A 1 sub-committeo'Wiis'appointed to deal with the,matter, ■and.-. it .was mentioned that if thense ofthe Basiu Eeserve were not granted • possibly ' the centre would hold the race from v Wellington to Palmerston. North. /. The'lOO miles' New; Zealand road cycling.championship is to be run in conjunction with the race.
The following cycling sub-committee to the centre was appointed:—Messrs. J. Stalker, G. S. Bright, C. Clark, J. Goodall, P. Christenson, G. Harrison, and F. Feehan.
It was decided to hold the Wellington provincial fifty miles road cycling championship on 15th September.
