MAHAKIPAWA MINE.
A report on their mine by an independent mining engineer, Mr.1 M. Barrance, manager of Alexander mine, Eeefton, will decide whether Mahakipawa Goldfields, Ltd., will' continue Operations or go into liquidation. The report will be published about the end of next month. This course was proposed by directors to a riieeting of shareholders of the company held on Monday, and agreed to by the 30 shareholders present. To enable this to be done some shareholders applying for preference shares have agreed to guarantee up to £5 each. A lady shareholder at the meeting wanted to know if workmen were searched when the mine closed down last. The chairman (Mr. C. A. Stringer): "On that point I have no certain information, but I am quite sure that would be done."
