(Latest from "Vedette.")
i.. Frost this morning and a clear.'day suggests an improvement in the weather I for to-morrow at Kicearton. The trackconditions are not likely to alter materially, however. The race of the day is. of course, the Grand National Hurdle Race. Course scratehings may 'reduce the field. Proceedings will open again at 11.30 a.m. '.'■■■■' ■■'• ' While Kaikahu was only a: moderate third in the Enfield Steeplechase yesterday, he should give a good account of himself in the Hunt Cup. Diana's Lad seemed a bit unlucky to fall yesterday. Preference is given to Kaikahu. ~ Cashmere Plate foim points to Chaimeuse showing up well in the Woolston Handicap/ Portray had a groat run all the way in the Avonhead Handicap yesterday. On Top has winning form, Which was impressive. Eo and Charraeuse may dispute the issue.
Eadiae's brilliancy will make certain his being a warm order for the Beaufort Steeplechase, despito the fact he is meeting much stronger opposition ihau on the first dfiy. Radiate, Charlatan, and Airtight are fresh horses, and the first two aro doubtful quantities) as to soundness. Aiitight with 9.8 may trouble' Eadiac most.
If "West IJome is started in the Spreydou Hurdles, he should be favouiite. Paris and Gay Fashion are other form horses. If a more experienced, man is up on Gay Fashion she should be hard to beat.
The light-weights in the Grand National Hurdle Eace now look to bo hold safe by those further up the handicap. King's Jest, and to a less degree, Llyn Dhu, have lost caste. Mangani now has to be first pick, and appeals to have an excellent chance of winning his second big hurdle race at Biecartoh. Of Mister Gamp'and Nukumai, preference is given to the younger horso, Mister Gamp. Oarinthia was finishing on so well yesterday that he is also deserving of mention. Thero should not be much between Mangani, Oarinthia, and Mistor Gamp at the finish. ■ ■
Nancy Leo on her second to Toseunia is deserving of every consideration in the August Handicap. . Arikinuj was a trifle unlucky yesterday, and he may be next best. Staghunter disappointed yesterday, but. was not too lucky. He improved from day to day at Trenthaui, and six furlongs may suit him better than a mile.
Class is poor in the Sumner Handicap. The local horse, Lord Thomond, may be well backed. Air Laddie is disappointing, but has his chance in this field. Grating carries weight well. Grattus and Lord Thomond may show up best.
The distance will suit Full Feather in tho Islington Handicap. Ho comes in well at 10.6. If' Town Major is a runner ho will bo well backed.' Starshooter ran a really good race in the Winter Cup, and Black Mint is due to show a flash of form. Backers may prefer Full Feather and Starshooter.
