The hardy villagers .of the ■ Freneli Alps were fascinated by the pluck, determination, and indomitable riding of the British women's team in the international motor-cycle trial.
The British men having retired, the hope of retaining the silver vase trophy; by Britain rested solely with the women, who were the only females competing. Miss Foley crashed into Mrs. M'Lean, and they fell dazed on the edge of a precipice. They had a miraculous escape from death, which the- spectators momentarily expected. However, both immediately rose, re-mounted, and continued in the race to finish third.
