CLANDESTINE COPYING
ACTION AGAINST AMERICAN WOMEN
LONDON, Hth August,
The "Daily Telegraph's" Paris correspondent states that the latest development in the struggle of dressmakers to prevent clandestine copying of the new season's models : has been that police raided the homes of two American women who were suspected of a plot to steal copies of the winter modes.
The party included detectives and experts from the leading dressmakers. One woman admitted that she paid anything from 8d to 17s for a sketch, but maintained that the operations were strictly honourable.
The women claim that they are in the habit of buying generously at the Paris autumn exhibitions. Parisian dressmakers demand that the alleged copyists be expelled from France.
