FOUND SHOT
MASTER OF HOUNDS
LONDON, sth August,
A millionaire brewer, Colonel Sydney J. Green, aged 57, joint master of the famous Cottesmere hounds, with which the Prince of Wales, tho Duko of York, and the Duke of Gloucester have frequently hunted, was found dead, with a shot wound in his head, and a- revolver alongside his body, by the roadside, near his residence at Oakham. A friend told the "Weekly Dispatch" that Green had been a changed man since the Meopham air disaster on 23nd July, when six persons, including four leaders of society, were killed. Sovoral of these were Colonel Green's personal friends. When he received a telegram announcing the tragedy, he noarly fainted.
"Forgive, mo; I am so unhappy; I cannot stand life any longer." This was the burden of letters read at the inquest. Ono of the letters was addressed to his "dear, true and loving father." Another to his brother, the third huntsman, contained these words: "Look after my hounds; I loved them."
The verdict was "suicide whilo of unsound mind."
