PETONE SHOPPING MONTH
To demonstrate that "Petone sells it for less" the shopkeepers of the town aromaking special efforts towards the end ot shopping month and residents of other districts should find a visit to Jackson street well worth while. Every day this week some interesting competition will be held. A girls' skipping race is the clnet attraction for to-inoi'vow, starting at AAo p.m. at the corner'of Buiek street, l.rarsrlay will be the bigsest day. The shopkeepers will have a window-dressing competition, tho first prize being a cup valued at £10 30s. There is also a special prize, a silver cup worth £5 ss. On Thursday evening there .will be a great'fancy dress procession in Jackson street. The first 'prize m this event is a€ 22s order.on any Petone ttrm. donated by "The Evening Post ', Second and third prizes are trophies valued, at ±a Is and 10s Cd respectively. Bands and a confetti and streamer battle will enliven the proceedings. At 8.30 p.m. a reception is to bo given to Mr. Mark Nicholls and the Petone senior Rugby team, arid, this will be followed" by a dance in the Labour Hall. Friday's event is a baby show, which will be judged by Dr. ami Mre. J. P.Donald.
