CARROLL-MUSGROVE THEATRES.
Curroll-Musgrove Theatres, Ltd., Sydney, reports profits from the I'riuce Edward Theatre of £10,096 for the year ended 30th June, compared with £15,547 for the previous year, and £17,830 two years ago. The directors report that '"talkie" and air-conditioning installations, costing approximately £18,000, have been paid {or out of reserves and current funds. The directors also state that hitherto they have refrained from joining a controversy on the subject of further taxaion of the picture industry, but they draw attention to the fact that the Prince Edward Theatre paid in general taxation during the year £15,211, equal to 15.4 per cent, of the issued capital, and £1878 more than the amount to be distributed in dividends. The figure does not include duty on films and censorship charges, which are paid by otliev interests, and includes State entertainment tax for six months only.
