AN EARTHQUAKE
A sharp earthquako shock is reported to have been felt at 1.50 a.m. yesterday at Palmerstpn North, where it caused some alarm. It was felt at Wellington 'oy those who were awake. A good record of the shock was obtained at the Kelburn Observatory, and calculations place, the centre apparently about 30 miles from Wellington. From the. record it is rather surprising that the shock was not felt more distinctly locally, but perhaps heavy sleep aftei1 Saturday's excitement allowed it to p:iss unheeded.
The 700,000 ordinary shares of the Sue/, Canal, which were originally worth £10 each, are now valued tit £200 each.
