COUNTY CRICKET CURTAILED

(Received 9th August, noon.) LONDON, Bth August. Bain again seriously curtailed county cricket. Following are the results: — Surrey v. Sussex.—Surrey, first innings 265 (Hobbs 106, Tate seven for 55), second 154 for four wickets (Ducat not out 71). Sussex, first, 262. Surrey won on tho first innings.

Derby v. Worcester.—Derby, first, 85 (Brooke six for 30); second, 186. Worcester, first, 309 (Boot 80, Mitchell five for 74). Worcester won by an innings and 38 runs. «s Gloucester v. Glamorgan.—Gloucester, first, 230 (Sinfield 98, Mercer five for 64). . Glamorgan, first, 62 (Hammond eight for 25), and following on 129 (Hammond four for 49). Gloucester won by an innings and 39 runs.

Kent v. Notts.—-Kent, first, 279 (Ashdown 64, S. Staples six for 86); second, 182 for eight wickets declared. Notts., first, 248 (Whysall 128, Freeman six for 93); second, 91 for five wickets. Kent won on the first innings. Yorkshire v. Leicester.—Yorkshire, first, 189 (Holmes SI, Geary five for 64). Leicester, first, 115 for seven. Drawn.

Middlesex v. Lancashire.—Middlesex, first, 179. _ Lancashire, first, 49 for three. Drawn.

Northants v. Hampshire.^—Hampshire, first, 60 (Jupp six for 17); second, 153. Northants, first, 120; second, 95 for eight. Northants won by two wickets. Somerset v. Essex.—Somerset, first, 162 for eight declared. Essex, first, 4S for none. Drawn.
