"Knocking Round," by J. C. Gay Brereton,'is a • collection ■of Australian stories, reminiscences, and scrips of biographies, bo that the whole makes up-a' pot' pourri,essentially of wattlebloom. At times one can almost detect also the smell of the bluegums. Mr. Brereton has a wholesome appreciation of his country and finds beauty even in the greyness of its gulliea and gum trees. There are some recollections of the Australian poets, of Henry Lawson and Dowell O'Reilly. Beading this publication of Angus and Robertson'« (Sydney) is; by no means a waste of time. It; is a worthy attempt to encourage Australian literary culture.
